As a Mets fan I've always despised the NY Yankees. They were always the team that won when I was growing up. They always signed all the best free agents and if they didn't win the World Series they would've made sure that they would sign even more star players the following offseason. One thing that many Yankee haters say including myself, "The Yankees are trying to buy a World Series!" Well, ya know what? I rather have an owner put half of the income they make back into the team then into their bank account. That was one thing George Steinbrenner always managed to do. Go out there and sign the top players. "Buy a World Series" If the team can afford it, why settle for anything less? He would do anything to win. Even fire a manager numerous times. He changed the managerial position 22 times in his entire Yankees tenure. He didn't care what it took. Change the manager, change the GM, sign the best free agents available. Bring a World Series trophy to the Bronx. That he did, 7x. RIP GS.
